How the tools work

• The form, the live preview and the totals run in your browser. Your draft is saved in this browser until you reset it, so you can close the tab and continue later.
• When you press Download PDF and pass a short security check, the document is sent to our PDF server over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The server renders it with WeasyPrint, an open-source HTML-to-PDF engine, using the same layout you see in the preview, and your browser downloads the file.
• The server removes each working copy of the document within 5 minutes, and the finished PDF when you download it or 10 minutes after it is ready. The Privacy Policy has the details.
• You can choose Letter, A4 and other paper sizes in the settings of each generator.
• A one-line "Created free with makeinvoicepdf.com" credit is on by default; one checkbox in the settings turns it off.

How the pages are written

The text on each page describes what the tool on it actually does: its fields, its options and the files it makes. Where a page gives a tax rate or a legal rule, it links to the source. Rates and rules taken from a data table, such as VAT rates or state late-fee rules, also show the date they were last checked against that source.

MakeInvoicePDF is not an accounting firm. Nothing on this site is tax, legal or accounting advice; the tools do the layout and the arithmetic, and you decide what goes into each document. The Terms of Use say more about this.
